Gryphon Stanley Saxton

‘Gryphon Stanley Saxton’

{(H. fulva maculata  x ‘Wild Horses’) X ‘Orange Splash’}

This is our first introduction using H. fulva maculata, from northwestern China, brought to Florence in 1895. This species delivers robust growth to its offspring. The traditionally shaped blooms vary in color, by season, from orange red with red chevrons, to orange with red chevrons.

This daylily is our tribute to Stanley Saxton, a pioneer northern hybridizer who encouraged our interest in species and early hybrids. The classic look and the great plant habit are a reflection of Saxton’s approach to hybridizing.
