About Gryphon Gardens

Building Our Daylily Display Garden

We purchased our present property in the fall of 1999 after a considerable search for enough space to lay out an extensive garden. We mostly looked at places in the countryside around Guelph but surprisingly, found a large lot in the city with mature trees and rolling lawns.

Shown here are some of  the wide open lawns, and five types of spruce trees, which allowed for a winding daylily walk. Gil laid out the proposed daylily beds and paths using garden hoses. Tess, our Golden Retriever at that time, took care of the local population of raccoons, rabbits and squirrels.

Sally was in charge of putting in a pond as the centerpiece of the garden in the spring of 2000. The daylilies had already been moved from our previous garden.
