‘Ninfa’ (Stelter 2012)

{‘Red Suspenders’ X ‘Web Browser’}

Tet 9  40  M-ML Dor  UF  3 way branching  17 bud count

This large, bright red flower takes many different shapes during the course of a season and occasionally appears in the dimensions of a spider.  It is fertile both ways but a difficult pod parent.

We have named this daylily for one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, Ninfa, about forty miles southeast of Rome in Italy. The garden is set in the midst of the ruins of the medieval town of Ninfa, which was destroyed in 1382 and never rebuilt. As our garden is in the Canadian city of Guelph, we are delighted that Ninfa originally was a Guelph Party town, a rival of the pro-Imperial Ghibelline forces in Italy.
